Our History
Making a Difference One Student at a Time

Built on a Solid Foundation
1997 - The Vision Begins
With one small kitchen table, three students, and a mother’s hope and faith, Success Unlimited Academy was born. Its humble beginnings as a small tutorial center and home school co-op planted seeds of potential in the heart of Montgomery, Alabama. Guided by a commitment to Christian values and a passion for inclusive education, SUA began its mission to serve young minds from all backgrounds.

2000 - Becoming a School
Three years later, SUA formally transitioned from a tutorial center into a private Christian school, ready to serve students in the metro Montgomery area and moved into its first building on Burbank Drive. This milestone marked a leap from the kitchen to a dedicated space, where the seeds of this faith-based institution began to grow. Growing from its foundation, the school expanded its vision to include students with a broad range of academic needs and gifts, ensuring a place for all who seek education in a faith-driven environment, and achieved accreditation in 2007.
In its early years, SUA continued to grow, quickly establishing itself as a school where students from the River Region and the surrounding communities could receive personalized education grounded in Christian faith. As its reach extended throughout the River Region—spanning Autauga, Elmore, and Lowndes counties—SUA fostered a diverse and vibrant community.
2001 – Rapid Growth and New Campus on Harrison Road
The school’s enrollment soared by 50%, necessitating a move to a larger space at 3368 Harrison Road. This campus allowed SUA to serve even more families, establishing a foundation for its future expansion and fostering a thriving, inclusive learning community.
2004 – Expanding with Faith Christian Church
As enrollment continued to rise, SUA added a second campus at Faith Christian Church on Bell Road. This new space enabled the school to meet the needs of its growing student body and expand its offerings while strengthening its Christian mission.

2006 – Fairlane Drive Campus: A Permanent Home
SUA purchased its current high school campus at 2328 Fairlane Drive. This central location became a new anchor for the school, symbolizing both stability and future potential. Here, SUA continued its mission to educate students in a Christ-centered environment.

2007 – Achieving Accreditation
In 2007, SUA reached a major milestone, becoming an accredited institution. This accreditation recognized the school’s commitment to academic excellence and further solidified its reputation in the Montgomery community as a premier Christian academy.

2009 – Consolidation at Fairlane Drive
After years of operating from three separate campuses, SUA completed renovations on Fairlane Drive, allowing all K-12 students to be housed under one roof. This consolidation fostered a unified community, enhancing collaboration among faculty and students alike.

2010-2011 – Continued Growth on Multiple Campuses

With continued growth, SUA once again needed more space. Students returned to Harrison Road while also using the Fairlane Drive campus. This phase allowed the school to serve more students, despite the challenges of managing multiple locations.

2012 – Expansion of Fairlane Campus
To address its space needs, SUA added a new wing to the Fairlane Drive campus, bringing students back from Harrison Road and uniting the school once more under one roof. This addition provided more classrooms, improved facilities, and a renewed sense of cohesion.
2014 - Enhancing Facilities and Programs
As SUA’s student body grew, so did its facilities. The Vaughn Road campus became home to K4-8th grade students, strategically located in Midtown Montgomery for easy access to the metro area. Thousands of commuters passing by the campus each day watched as SUA grew, evolving into a beacon of Christian education.
The acquisition of this campus included the addition of a gymnasium, making it possible for students to engage in a variety of sports and athletic activities. Recognizing the importance of the arts, SUA opened Hawkins Hall on the lower campus, which serves as the Fine Arts performance venue. Hawkins Hall boasts modern equipment and a performance stage, creating a vibrant venue for students to showcase their talents through musical and theatrical performances.
2019 - The Elite Athletic Center and a New Era in Student Life
With an unwavering commitment to student growth and achievement, SUA held the Elite Athletic Center opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on September 5, 2019. Located on the Vaughn Road campus, this state-of-the-art facility includes a dance studio, an athletic training room, equipment storage, and even a classroom for specialized physical education and health instruction. The new center reflects SUA’s dedication to excellence, not just academically, but also in physical and character development.

2020 - Facing the Pandemic Together
In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, SUA demonstrated resilience. While many schools struggled, SUA adapted, embracing new technologies and flexible learning models to keep students connected and engaged. The strength of SUA’s community, grounded in faith, carried it through the challenges, allowing it to continue offering stability for students and families.

Present - Making a Difference One Student at a Time
From its humble origins, SUA now proudly educates over 350 students across two campuses. Both the lower and upper campuses remain a few blocks apart, creating a close-knit yet expansive environment where students can thrive and be successful. With plans to expand even further into the arts, SUA remains committed to its vision: a Christ-centered education that nurtures students academically, athletically, and spiritually, preparing them to make an impact on their communities.
Through every chapter, SUA has held fast to its founding values, expanding from that small kitchen table and three students into a thriving Christ-centered academy serving students from all walks of life. As SUA continues to grow, its influence within the Montgomery community only strengthens, a testament to the enduring power of faith, vision, and community.
